General Proofreading, Copyediting, and
Technical Document Editing Process

This is the general process that I will use to proofread, copyedit, technical document edit, and/or convert your manuscript:
  1. You send to me your manuscript for me to review.
  2. We agree to the terms and conditions for me to proofread, copyedit, technical document edit, and/or convert your manuscript.
  3. I will send a Client Agreement form to you that details the timeline, service, payment amount, and terms.
  4. You sign the Client Agreement form and send it back to me.
  5. After I receive the signed Client Agreement form from you, I will sign the Client Agreement form and send a copy of the completed form to you.
  6. I will send to you an invoice via PayPal for the first payment of 40 percent.
  7. You deposit the 40 percent payment into the JDFogdall Editing PayPal account via PayPal.
  8. After I receive notice from PayPal that the required 40 percent payment has been deposited in the JDFogdall Editing PayPal account, I will start working on your manuscript.
  9. When I am finished working on your manuscript, I will send to you an invoice via PayPal for another 40 percent payment.
  10. After I receive notice from PayPal that the required 40 percent payment has been deposited in the JDFogdall Editing PayPal account, I will send your manuscript to you.
  11. If I used Microsoft Word’s Track Changes function, you use the Track Changes function to accept or reject the changes and suggestions I made. You may email me at any time if you have questions or concerns about my suggestions and revisions.
  12. I will send to you an invoice via PayPal for the final 20 percent payment.
  13. If your manuscript has undergone a substantive copyedit or technical document edit, after you accept or reject the changes and suggestions that I made, your manuscript may need another thorough proofread, copyedit, or technical document edit. At a minimum a proofread of your manuscript would definitely be appropriate. Yes, it will take more time and money, but it is time well invested to ensure your manuscript is top quality.
