I offer proofreading, copyediting, keyboard entry, and PDF to Word conversion services.
Proofreading corrects only indisputable errors; catches mistakes that a grammar or spell check cannot find, but a trained eye will; and ensures mechanical accuracy and consistency. I may reject a request to proofread your manuscript if a basic, medium, or heavy copyedit would be better based on content, accuracy, and clarity. I will provide you with the style sheet that I created for consistency.
Basic Copyediting includes proofreading and a close look at style and consistency. I use an applicable style guide (for example, Chicago Manual of Style) or your style guide. I make individual corrections (not blanket corrections). I will provide you with the style sheet that I created for consistency. If you want any additional copyediting after the original copyedit is complete, it will be billed separately.
Medium Copyediting includes proofreading, basic copyediting, and an in-depth close look at style and consistency. I will provide you with the style sheet that I created for consistency. If you want any additional copyediting after the original copyedit is complete, it will be billed separately.
Heavy Copyediting includes proofreading, basic and medium copyediting; a close look at the logic and flow of your manuscript; and offer suggestions and improvements. Heavy copyediting may result in recommendations to restructure the manuscript to improve the logical flow. I will not make the changes, but I will note the recommended changes. I will provide you with the style sheet that I created for consistency.
Technical Document Editing includes proofreading; basic, medium, and heavy copyediting; a close look at the logic and flow of your manuscript; offer suggestions and improvements; and editing the document for content (completeness, accuracy, step order, and appropriate language) and form (organization, visual design, and usability) to make sure that the document can be understood by the intended audience. I may require source information so that I can study it before I begin editing. I will not make major changes, but I will note the recommended changes. I will provide you with the style sheet that I created for consistency.

My rates are in line with the rates suggested by the Editorial Freelancers Association. The rates listed in the Cost (Starting Rate) table below are starting rates. Your actual rate will be discussed on an individual project basis.
